Valinda Roche

Valinda Roche, official USA certified beach volleyball coach, is an outstanding person, player, and coach.  She has competed on the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) and WPVA (Women’s Professional Volleyball Association) beach tours for 13 years, with many top 10 finishes.  In 2005, she was the first partner of 3 time Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May.  Valinda was also an accomplished indoor player, competing at the University of Wyoming, three time All Conference Selection, and was captain of her team. She continued her indoor career playing on an elite, travel team in Southern California and touring with the Canadian National team for three seasons.  She coached club volleyball for 4 years until she decided to focus her career on the beach. She is currently the Head Beach Coach at Mater Dei High school, finishing 3rd and 5th in the Southern Cal region.  Valinda has a true love for coaching and playing volleyball and is looking forward to helping our young athletes in developing their volleyball skills.

Cami Anne Manwill

Camie Anne Manwill found her passion for beach volleyball five years ago, and now plays competitively on the AVP starting this past season. Her road to the beach began in Paradise California where she played indoor volleyball, and subsequently earned a full-ride scholarship to Utah Valley University. While playing Division I volleyball she earned her BS degree in Exercise Science. Since graduating, she has coached for the Gold Medal Squared Camps and Clinics, traveling the United Stated for five years. She also served as head coach for the JV indoor teams at American Fork High School, and as Varsity and JV Coach at Pleasant Grove High School. Last season, Camie was the Men’s Frosh-Soph team coach at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. We are fortunate to have such an experienced indoor and outdoor player on our team.

Terri Del Conte

Terri Del Conte is an up and coming player on the AVP Tour. Standing at only 5’5”, she is best known for her quick defense, which landed her the name “Flying Squirrel” by coach Valinda Roche. Terri graduated from Missouri State University, where she played in two NCAA tournaments as the team’s libero and captain her Senior year. She owns, Center Balance Training, offering person al training focusing on developing bodies that are geared to perform at the optimal level. Terri is bringing to Sand Soul her vast knowledge and focused work ethic to train and educate our young athletes as our featured strength and agility coach.

Jake Thibodeau

Jake’s passion for volleyball began in 2010 while playing at Fountain Valley High School. He also played club for Balboa Bay and when he graduated he went on to Orange Coast College where he played for two years. After graduating from OCC, Jake transferred to Grand Canyon University where he finished his indoor collegic career playing Division 1 volleyball.

During that time, Jake developed a love for beach volleyball and coaching. Since 2013 he has been on the USA, A1 Junior National Beach Volleyball Team, Jake has also competed in numerous AVP tournaments, and is looking to continue his beach career on and off the court in the future.

Zachary Perry

Zachary Perry, played two years of D1 Volleyball at Cal Baptist University. He was also a two-time high school varsity captain. Zachary has coached and played for 949 Athletics and has also coached for American Beach Volleyball. Zachary was involved with the youth ministry at Vantage Point Church and is currently majoring in Sports Medicine and minoring in Christian Studies at Cal Baptist University.

Jeannette Hecker

janJeannette Hecker is an avid beach player, who competed on the AVP where she had several top 20 finishes, many of which were with Valinda Roche. She has also won the CBVA Cal Cup 16u, 18u, and open division and was a member of the winning team at the Manhattan 6 man. Jeanette was a tenacious indoor competitor, winning four CIF and State championships as a setter of the Newport Harbor indoor team and winning JO’s four consecutive years with her club team, OCVBC. While at Newport Harbor, Jeannette also played with Misty May as her setter. She also played collegiate volleyball at LMU and was recently inducted into the Loyola Marymount universities volleyball hall of fame. Jeanette received her undergrad at Loyola Marymount and Masters degree in Nursing from Loyola New Orleans.

Jill Reinking

Jill Reinking has been playing volleyball on our beaches for more that 30 years. She competed all four of her college years at Southern Illinois University, and was named GTE Academic All-American 1st team as a Junior. Prior to senior year she selected for the South America Tour, AIA team. She also competed internationally for two years in Holland and Canada. In 1991, she named female MVP while playing for the first-place Co-Ed Open Division team at the USVBA Nationals. Jill has been a Sand Soul coach since 2014. She currently resides in Huntington Beach with her husband John and her of three children, two of which are currently playing at the collegic level. We are proud to have this former indoor athlete, AAA beach volleyball player and experienced coach on the Sand Soul team.

Morgan Martin

Morgan Martin is a great addition to our coaching staff.  She just signed for a full ride Beach Volleyball scholarship at the University of Hawaii, and will be starting there next fall.  She is a very seasoned and mature player and especially good at teaching fundamentals and mentoring younger players.

Morgan Martin grew up in Mission Viejo, CA and played at Laguna Beach and SoCal Jrs. Volleyball Club. She is going to attend University of Hawaii in 2016 on a Beach Volleyball scholarship. She has played with USA Volleyball and USA Beach Volleyball for 6 years and won the U17 World Championships in Acapulco, Mexico in 2014. She had a 13th place finish in the Huntington Beach AVP and hopes to continue playing on the AVP in the future. Currently, Morgan competing for the University of Hawaii and will be back to coach during our Holiday and Summer Seasons.

Kellie Woolever

Kellie Woolever grew up in Long Beach, CA, and played for Mizuno Long Beach Volleyball Club, going on to attend Pepperdine University on a volleyball scholarship. She won a 2 time National Champion for the Waves Beach Volley team and was 4 time All-American for both indoor and beach. She also coached at Nina Matthies Volleyball Camp of all ages from 2009 until 2015.  Kellie graduated in May 2015 with a degree in Psychology.
